Workshop Challenges 'Toxic Masculinity' in Lünen, Germany

A workshop on 'Toxic Masculinity' was held at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen in Lünen, Germany, on September 26, 2025. Led by Mathias Gathof and Jana Müller, the event attracted 16 participants and was organized by Regina Hunschock, the center's director.

The workshop explored crucial topics such as gender roles and power structures, aiming to foster greater equality. Participants engaged in practical exercises to understand how societal norms shape coexistence. They identified openness, confronting personal gender stereotypes, and showing care as key steps towards change.

Regina Hunschock, who leads the community center, plans to continue discussions and expand offers on this topic. Women participants shared numerous strategies against sexual harassment, while men were encouraged to take an active role in overcoming entrenched gender patterns. However, men's contributions during the workshop were noted to be minimal.

The 'Toxic Masculinity' workshop at the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen highlighted the importance of open dialogue and self-reflection in challenging gender stereotypes. With Regina Hunschock's commitment to continue these discussions, the center aims to foster a more inclusive and equal community.
