Wiesbaden Police Busy Weekend: Assault, Theft, Street Race
Wiesbaden police had a busy weekend, dealing with a series of incidents including an assault on an officer, a theft, and a street race. A 32-year-old man was arrested after assaulting a police officer in the Loreleiring area on Friday night. Meanwhile, a valuable coin collection was stolen from a car, and a prohibited street race took place in the Taunusstraße / Sonnenberger Straße area. A young woman was also harassed on a bus in the Mitte district.
The weekend's events began on Friday afternoon when a bag containing a valuable coin collection and cash was stolen from an unlocked car in Wiesbaden's Rheinstraße 25 area. The thief remains at large.
Saturday evening saw a more serious incident. A 32-year-old man assaulted a police officer in the Loreleiring area. The man, whose name was not disclosed, became aggressive when a pedestrian reported his suspicious behavior. He insulted the officer, resisted arrest, and struck at the officers. Despite his actions, the officers were unharmed. The man was arrested and charged with insulting an officer and resisting arrest. He was taken into police custody for sobering up due to his intoxication.
Earlier in the day, a young woman was harassed on a bus in the Adlerstraße/Schwalbacher Straße area. The suspect, described as 180 cm tall with dark skin, acne scars, short black hair, a beard, wearing a checked shirt, an orange jacket, dark jeans, and a Kenyan flag armband, remains unknown and at large.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, a prohibited motor vehicle race took place in the Taunusstraße / Sonnenberger Straße area. Two drivers were stopped: a 20-year-old driving a Seat Cupra and a 19-year-old driving a Ford. Both drivers were charged and temporarily relieved of their vehicles and mobile phones.
The weekend's events highlight the importance of police presence and vigilance in maintaining public safety. The theft, assault, harassment, and street race demonstrate the need for swift action and thorough investigation. Police are urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward.
