Virginia Tech Opens Discovery Lab for Undergraduate Research
Virginia Tech has launched the Discovery Lab, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to undergraduate research. The Discovery Lab is a peer-led space, with biochemistry students Anushka Jadhav, Varsha Durai, and Paige Roach piloting summer projects and set to guide new researchers this fall. It encourages participation across majors and offers projects like freshwater ecosystem analysis, biosensor development, and microplastics detection. Faculty emphasize quantitative data generation and analysis, preparing students for AI and machine learning workflows. The lab is administratively supported by multiple departments and invites students to develop skills for their future careers.
