Overnight, unknown individuals defaced the University of Rostock's South City Campus with anti-Semitic slogans and pro-Palestinian graffiti. The incident, which occurred from Monday to Tuesday, has sparked outrage and condemnation from university officials and local politicians.

The graffiti, estimated to have caused around 10,000 euros of damage, targeted two bus stops and a parked truck. Slogans included 'Uni Rostock murders with in Gaza', 'Resistance is justified', and 'Free Palestine'. The university management swiftly condemned the act and filed a complaint with the police, who are currently investigating and seeking witnesses.

Charlotte Beermann of RCDS criticized the slogans, describing them as a glorification of Hamas terror. Jenny Gundlach of the CDU youth organization echoed this sentiment, calling the action a 'shocking and shameful signal', particularly on the anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. Science Minister Bettina Martin (SPD) condemned the vandalism and emphasized the importance of ensuring Jewish students feel safe and welcome on campus. University President Elizabeth Prommer clarified that the action does not represent the student body or campus discourse.

The University of Rostock and local authorities are taking the incident seriously. While the perpetrators remain unknown, the police are actively pursuing the case. The university community has united in condemning the graffiti, with officials reassuring students that such actions do not reflect the university's values or student body.
