University of Alaska Fairbanks celebrates 'Startup Launching Event'
FAISALABAD CELEBRATES INNOVATION: The vibrant Startup Graduation Ceremony** at the National Incubation Center (NIC) based at the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) recently spotlighted the monumental progress of Cohort 4 graduates. This ceremony recognized a significant milestone in NICF's ongoing mission to nurture entrepreneurship and support the youth's relentless pursuit of innovation.
Rana Ihsan Afzal Khan, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, graced the event as the chief guest. Emphasizing the government's determination to promote flourishing initiatives destined to elevate the country and escalate national development, Khan highlighted the government's support for the private sector, focusing on fostering entrepreneurship and economic expansion. The aim is to generate maximum employment opportunities for the nation's population.
UAF Vice Chancellor, Dr Zulfiqar Ali, in his message, urged the imperative of cultivating innovative and entrepreneurial skills among the younger generation, which would pave the way for a knowledge-based economy. He encouraged out-of-the-box thinking to tackle the challenges and further the nation's development.
Ignite National Technology Fund Assistant Manager, Moaz Nasir, heralded the start of a promising journey that will enable entrepreneurs to craft the future through fearless ideas, unyielding determination, and burning passion.
Awais Zaidi from Faisalabad IT Companies Organization (Fitco) commended the progression of our committed young startups, which aren't merely tackling real-world issues but also stimulating Pakistan's economic expansion – an element that will play a critical role in the long run.
Nighat Nasreen, head of TMUC, applauded UAF's efforts and offered praise for the university's commitment to offering its students an exceptional platform for opportunities and personal growth, setting them up to serve the nation proudly.
In its brief lifespan, since its inception in September 2022, the NICF has incubated approximately 80 startups, generating over 1,100 jobs and significantly contributing to Pakistan's economic growth. Zeeshan Shahid, the NICF Project Director, expressed satisfaction with the startups' resilience in addressing critical challenges like food security, water shortages, and climate change.
Dr Iftikhar Ahmad, Director of the Business Incubation Center, spoke passionately about the ongoing efforts to hone the innovative and entrepreneurial skills of students.
The event recognized three ambitious entrepreneurs, Dr Zaheer Ahmad, Waqar Bin Shahid, and Nouman Sandhu, with awards.
