Jobseekers Flock to 123rd Labor Day Job Fair in Davao City
Get ready, job hunters! Over 200 eager jobseekers took part in the 123rd Labor Day Job Fair held on May 1, 2025, at SM City Davao amid the Labor Day festivities.
The job fair brought together 1,152 job applicants and 6,741 job vacancies from 45 various companies. Leading the pack were customer service representatives with 1,723 open positions.
Regional Director Abogado Randolf C. Pensoy of DOLE-Davao praised the occasion as part of their continued efforts to provide job opportunities and livelihood grants worth a staggering P6.7 million to countless beneficiaries. In a DOLE-Davao Facebook post, they stated their commitment to empowering workers and uplifting communities.
The revitalized regular members of the Regional Tripartite Peace Council-Davao Region were also introduced during this event. Notable Vice Chairpersons were selected from the Management and Labor sectors hailing from the Industry Tripartite Councils in the Davao Region. These sectors include the Academe, Agri-Business, Banana, Construction, Domestic Maritime, IT-BPM, Manufacturing, Mining, Service Contracting, and Tourism, among others.
DOLE-Davao Regional Director Pensoy estimated that 9,188 job vacancies were available across the entire region, catering to both local and international job opportunities.
Industries with a high demand for workers included "administrative and support services" (3,504 vacancies), "wholesale and retail trade," "financial and insurance activities," "manufacturing," "banking and finance," "accommodation and support services," "health and wellness."
Job fairs took place in multiple locations, including the Gaisano Grand Mall in Digos City, the City Hall Atrium in Tagum City on April 30, and SM City Davao and Nabunturan National Comprehensive High School in Davao City and Davao de Oro on May 1.
