UGM Pioneers Blockchain for 60K+ Student Records, Launches AI Lab
Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has pioneered a groundbreaking initiative in Indonesia, partnering with Space and Time and Indomobil Group to launch onchain academic records. This innovative project, the first of its kind in the country, aims to verify course completions for over 60,000 students using blockchain technology, streamlining the credential verification process and reducing fraud.
The initiative, supported by the Indomobil Group and Space and Time, integrates blockchain to store and verify student records. This aligns with Indonesia's national strategy to digitize education and enhance graduate competitiveness in Web3. Space and Time's zero-knowledge (ZK) data infrastructure anchors academic achievements onchain, ensuring secure and transparent record-keeping.
The project will also introduce an AI Lab powered by Dreamspace. This will enable students to design, deploy, and monetize AI models without extensive coding knowledge, fostering innovation and decentralized AI application development. The AI Lab will incorporate training in cross-chain interoperability using Hyperlane Nexus to connect external blockchains.
SXT, the native token of the Space and Time ecosystem, will serve as the medium for course access and payments. This creates a decentralized and traceable flow of value, simplifying transactions and promoting transparency.
UGM's Vice Rector for Partnership, Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, emphasized the importance of blockchain-based credentialing and AI application development for international competitiveness. Space and Time's leadership highlighted their commitment to providing secure infrastructure for verifiable onchain data, while Indomobil Group described the initiative as a template for enterprise-level blockchain adoption.
The onchain academic records initiative at UGM, supported by Space and Time and Indomobil Group, is expected to strengthen Indonesia's long-term economic position by integrating blockchain and AI into education. This pioneering project, the first of its kind in Indonesia, aims to verify course completions for over 60,000 students and introduce an AI Lab for decentralized AI application development. By leveraging blockchain and AI, UGM is enhancing graduate competitiveness and fostering innovation in the Web3 space.
