Park University Offers Support to U.S. Coast Guard Members During Government Shutdown

Park University, a long-standing supporter of the U.S. military, continues to serve 11,415 students across 42 campuses in 22 states and online. This includes students from the U.S. Coast Guard, who, due to the Coast Guard's organizational structure under the Department of Homeland Security, face challenges with tuition assistance funding during the current federal government shutdown.

Recognising the unique challenges faced by the Coast Guard, Park University has announced several measures to assist its members. The university will provide a $60 credit towards the cost of books for enrolling Coast Guard members and has waived the admission fee for all members of the military. Additionally, Park University will waive the tuition of one class (up to three credit hours) for Coast Guard members enrolling for the Spring I term.

Park University's commitment to the military community is evident in its long-standing relationship with the U.S. military. The university has been supporting U.S. military service members since 1918, and 33 of its campuses are located on military installations across the country. Coast Guard members can enroll online at https://military.our website/ or by calling (888) 319-9522.

For questions about the offer, students can direct their queries to Sarah Weygand at sweygand@our website or the Park Global Warrior Center at warriorcenter@our website.

In addition to these specific measures, Park University offers a range of support services to military service members. These include educational programs with flexible scheduling and online courses, scholarships and financial aid, mental health support, and career transition assistance. During a federal government shutdown, universities may offer emergency financial assistance and flexible payment plans to help students manage.

For more information about education benefits offered by the VA, students can visit the official U.S. government website at https://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill. It's worth noting that Park University has been recognised as a top military-friendly college/university and a "Best for Vets" private college/university by multiple military-related publications since 2009.

In the past, Park University has provided emergency scholarships to active duty military students, such as during the federal government's sequestration in 2013. For specific details about Park University's support for U.S. military service members and any assistance during a government shutdown, it would be best to contact the university directly or check their official website for updates.
