Turning Point USA Returns to Utah, Tight Security After Charlie Kirk Tragedy
Turning Point USA returned to Utah for a campus tour event, nearly three weeks after the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk. Security was significantly beefed up for the 'This is The Turning Point' tour stop at Utah State University, with a heavy police presence and strict entry measures in place. Attendees started queuing as early as 3 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. event. The venue was heavily guarded, with officers stationed at every corner, snipers on rooftops, drone surveillance, K9 units, metal detectors, and bag checks. A strict no re-entry policy was enforced once inside. Earlier in the day, a 'suspicious device' was detonated by law enforcement, which was later confirmed to be non-explosive. This incident did not disrupt the event, which went ahead as planned with Utah Gov. Spencer Cox, Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs, former Congressman Jason Chaffetz, and Alex Clark in attendance. The event was a testament to the resilience of the community in the face of adversity, with heightened security measures ensuring a safe environment for all attendees. The tour continues to honour Charlie Kirk's legacy, despite the tragic circumstances surrounding his assassination on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University.
