Scooping Up Tablets for Modern Learning: Düsseldorf's Digital Revolution
Gear up, students! Tablets have just become your new best friend in the classroom. In chemistry, they're perfect for jotting down experiment notes. In geography, they offer a chance to dive into interactive map adventures, even helping you complete homework. And the best part? These devices are yours to keep and use personally!
Düsseldorf's Educational Department is gearing up for a digital makeover, with over 13,000 tablets distributed to students in 2022 alone. Dagmar Wandt, a key figure in this movement, emphasizes, "We're bent on modernizing digital education for our students' success, and this expansion of our school's tech infrastructure is of utmost importance to Düsseldorf."
But what does this digital revolution mean for the classrooms of tomorrow? A dedicated support team is on standby to answer technical queries and nip error messages in the bud. To match the schools' specific needs, the Department conducted a preliminary survey to gauge equipment preferences, with a focus on WLAN, end devices, learning environments, broadband, visualization technology, and top-notch support.
So, what's on the menu? Schools can pick their poison—err, preference—between a setup with projectors, interactive projectors, or interactive displays.
A fast, secure internet connection is crucial for the unstoppable digitization in Düsseldorf schools. The plan? Link 60 school locations to the city's fiber-optic network this year. The fiber-optic expansion at Stettiner Straße and an additional 123 locations will be completed by the end of 2024, courtesy of external providers.
As learning in Düsseldorf enters a bold new era, the future looks brighter than ever!
Students will find technology as a valuable tool in their educational journey, as Düsseldorf's Educational Department is planning to modernize digital education through the expansive use of tablets. With a focus on technology integration in education and self-development, these devices are positioned to transform the classrooms of tomorrow.
