"Training sites earmarked for the fishing industry in Kamchatka, highlighting 25 specific locations"
In May 2025, the Ministry of Fisheries of Kamchatka Krai approved applications for targeted training of students through the "Work in Russia" portal. The program, designed for the 2025/26 academic year, aims to produce highly qualified young specialists for fisheries organizations in the region.
The program offers five specialized programs: one bachelor's and four specialist programs. These include 'Refrigeration, Cryogenic Engineering, and Life Support Systems', 'Technical Exploitation of Transport Radio Equipment', 'Exploitation of Shipboard Electrical Equipment and Automation Means', 'Exploitation of Shipboard Power Plants', and 'Navigation'.
The program provides training and retraining in relevant fisheries specialties to equip workers with modern skills tailored to the needs of Kamchatka Krai's fisheries sector. Graduates of the program receive guaranteed employment in fisheries organizations within the region, ensuring practical job placement and addressing workforce needs.
The "Work in Russia" portal is used as the official platform for job placement. It serves as a centralized hub for posting job openings and matching qualified candidates to employers. Anastasia Kaznova, Head of the Department of Economics and Analytics of the Ministry of Fisheries of Kamchatka Krai, made the statement.
Starting from May 10, 2025, employers can publish offers for targeted training on the 'Work in Russia' portal. The number of places for admission to higher education and scientific fields in the program is determined based on the economy's need for qualified specialists and the industry's specifics.
It's worth noting that a total of 25 places have been approved for the five specialties, but employers can now publish offers to increase this number. This initiative is a significant step towards strengthening the fisheries sector in Kamchatka Krai by ensuring a steady supply of skilled workers and fostering economic development.
- The five specialized programs offered within the fisheries training program, such as Refrigeration, Cryogenic Engineering, and Life Support Systems, are not only part of the science and technology sector, but they also significantly contribute to the health-and-wellness of the region's fisheries due to their focus on modern equipment and life support systems.
- In addition to these specialized programs, the fisheries training program also includes education-and-self-development courses, as graduates will be equipped with learning skills tailored to the needs of Kamchatka Krai's fisheries sector, ensuring they become highly qualified young specialists in their field.
