The APLO, an elite intellectual event, welcomed approximately 500 brilliant high school students hailing from 12 Asia-Pacific countries, including China, Australia, Japan, Singapore, and more. The competition is known for fostering exceptional minds in linguistics.

One such standout student, Ramazan Butuntayev from Mangystau region's specialized IT lyceum, shone brightest and clinched the title of absolute winner. This incredible achievement was facilitated by outstanding results that left even the strongest regional competitors in his dust.

The Kazakh team not only impressively clinched 5 medals but also garnered 3 honorary diplomas:

  • Ramazan Butuntayev: Gold
  • Samir Sarbasov: Silver
  • Timur Kantaev: Bronze
  • Zere Serikova: Bronze
  • Temirlan Seitbatal: Bronze

The honorary diplomas were awarded to:

  • Islam Sipattalov
  • Shyngys Karasayev
  • Aron Hasanov

According to the Ministry of Education and Science, APLO is an international intellectual competition in linguistics for high school students, offering a bridge to the International Linguistics Olympiad (ILO). The Olympiad nurtures logical thinking, linguistic intuition, and intercultural competence, allowing students to prove their mettle on an international stage and make a name for themselves in the academic and professional spheres.

It's no surprise that Kazakh students frequently excel on the global stage. Last year, the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) - 2024 took place in Saudi Arabia, and Kazakh students walked away with two gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.

A student from NIS in Almaty, Symbat Barsagazy, went on to secure a top-40 position worldwide in the summer of 2024, snagging a coveted internship with NASA.
