Tokayev Presents Prizes to Winners of Global Olympiads Competitions
Kazakhstan's Schoolchildren Shine in International Olympiads and Scientific Competitions
Kazakhstan's schoolchildren have been making a significant impact on the global stage, excelling in various international olympiads and scientific competitions. This was recently highlighted by the Head of State, who commended the immense contribution of respected teachers who have helped develop their students' abilities.
Since last year, our schoolchildren have participated in over 30 international olympiads and scientific competitions. One of the most notable achievements came at the 2025 World Schools Team Chess Championship, where Kazakhstan’s National School of Physics and Mathematics won the silver medal. Imangali Akhilbay, a Kazakh player, achieved a perfect individual score (8/8) on board two, narrowly missing out on gold but outperforming several other international teams.
In the field of mathematics, a Kazakhstani student named Aray was selected to represent Kazakhstan at the European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO) 2025. Aray secured first place in the national selection for EGMO, coming top out of 107 competitors.
Kazakhstan is also hosting the 2nd FIDE Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities in October 2025 in Astana, further highlighting the country’s ongoing engagement and leadership in chess competitions internationally.
These accomplishments primarily reflect strong performances in chess and mathematics competitions, reflecting the country’s investment in these areas at the school level. While recent results from other subject olympiads (e.g., physics, chemistry) or broader scientific competitions were not found in the available search results, it is clear that Kazakhstan's schoolchildren are making a mark in numerous fields.
The Head of State has expressed gratitude to all educators and parents for raising a generation with high intellectual potential. The impressive results have reflected the high level of education in our country, with our schoolchildren winning thousands of medals, nearly 200 of which are gold, over 300 silver, and around 500 bronze.
These victories have raised Kazakhstan's flag high on global sports and creative arenas. The Head of State has emphasized that Kazakhstan's future lies in the hands of its creative youth. The President is confident that the young winners will make a significant contribution to Kazakhstan's development in the future, seeing in them worthy citizens of our country.
Education and self-development are essential for Kazakhstan's schoolchildren, who have demonstrated personal growth through their participation and achievements in various international olympiads and scientific competitions. Their learning experiences, particularly in chess and mathematics, have resonated globally, showcasing a high level of education-and-self-development within the nation.
