The Thirteen's 14th Season Kicks Off With Mystery & Music
The Thirteen, Alexandria's renowned choral ensemble, is set to kick off its 14th season with an intriguing event on October 17, 2025. While specifics about the presentation by artistic director Matthew Robertson remain under wraps, the opening night promises a captivating blend of classical and contemporary music.
The concert, titled 'On That Distant Day', will take place at Virginia Theological Seminary's Immanuel Chapel at 7:30 PM. The evening features a mix of old and new, including the North American premiere of Frank Martin's 'Cantate pour le 1er Août' and a contemporary 'Kyrie' by Diedre Robinson. The programme also includes Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's 'Missa Papae Marcelli' and Maurice Duruflé's 'Requiem', with Princeton University organist Eric Plutz joining the ensemble.
In addition to the musical delights, The Thirteen continues its Kids Come Free initiative, inviting children aged 5 to 17 to attend performances at no charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Meanwhile, a 62-year-old Alexandria man who had been missing since Tuesday morning has been safely located.
