Teacher assaulted by dissatisfied student due to exam grades

In a shocking incident that has rocked a private school in Ban Rai district, a Grade 11 student physically assaulted his female math teacher on August 5, 2025. The student, who was upset about not receiving a perfect score on a midterm exam, punched the teacher in the face in front of more than 20 classmates.

The incident took place after the student approached the teacher to inquire about his score. The teacher explained that while the student's answers were correct, he had not shown the required working steps on his answers. Unsatisfied with this explanation, the student demanded an apology from the teacher.

When the teacher questioned who should apologize, the student became agitated, kicked a desk, and left the classroom. The student returned around 10 minutes later, but the teacher had already left the school to seek medical attention.

The attack resulted in a bruised left eye, swelling on the teacher's head, and inflamed ribs. The teacher required hospital treatment and filed a police report on Aug 8. The student has been suspended from school amid ongoing legal action under the Child and Juvenile Law.

The student has a prior record of violent behavior and has submitted a request to quit the school. His parents have contacted the teacher to apologize for his actions. The teacher is scheduled to give a statement to the police on Tuesday.

The Education Minister has ordered an investigation into the incident and called for measures to prevent similar violence. These measures include reviewing academic pressure and mental health support in schools. The case has highlighted broader concerns about student stress and the need for psychological support for all parties involved.

Despite the trauma, the teacher has committed to returning to teaching once she recovers physically and mentally. The school and the teacher have not disclosed her identity to protect her privacy.
