Title: Safe Mobility Life - Driving Change in Young Minds
Jerichower Land, June 3, 2025
Safety took center stage across the Jerichower Land District as local authorities rolled out preventive and enforcement measures to promote road traffic awareness.
A crowd-pleaser was the arrival of police in schools, where officers in several municipalities conducted route checks outside educational institutions, reminding careless parents of the no-parking zones, as was the case in Möser, where ten drivers received citations for parking violations.
Notably, law enforcement in Biederitz set up speed controls near the local primary school. On Heyrothsberger Street, five drivers were slapped with fines for speeding, with the fastest clocked at a whopping 53 km/h.
The Jerichow city police unit was a spectacle at the children's festival in Burg's Schartauer Street, allowing youngsters to test their traffic sign knowledge on a wheel of fortune. The police vehicle was also on display during the event.
Genthin's own Police Master Holger Müller, joined by his colleague Heiko Moehring, along with Police Master Nadine Mittag from Elbe-Parey, led a special action day at Mützel's kindergarten "Unter den Eichen." The youngsters participated in an exhilarating biking course, where they honed their agility and safe biking skills through various stations. The children's enthusiasm and interest in safe bike handling added a buzz to the action, making a significant impact on early traffic education.

While details about the "Sicher.mobil.leben - Kids in Focus" initiative remain scant, many similar initiatives emphasize the importance of educating children about road safety, promoting safe behaviors, and shaping infrastructure to protect young lives on the road.
In light of the ongoing focus on road safety, it would be beneficial to incorporate modules about safe transportation within the school curriculum for comprehensive education and self-development. Furthermore, law enforcement could collaborate with schools to organize regular events that highlight traffic sign knowledge and promote safe biking skills, such as the one held in Mützel's kindergarten "Unter den Eichen."
