Staffing firm Adecco temporarily appoints Ayumi Kunori as its Group CEO for a month in 2015.
Ayumi Kunori, a talented young professional with a flair for business, creativity, and entrepreneurship, has been chosen to serve as the Group 'CEO for One Month' by the world's leading HR solutions provider, Adecco. This prestigious opportunity will see Kunori working alongside Group CEO Alain Dehaze for a month, gaining invaluable experience in running a multinational company with a €20 billion turnover and 32,000 employees across 60 countries.
The 'CEO for One Month' program is an initiative designed to identify and nurture top talent by providing candidates with a real-world CEO experience within a corporate setting. The program aims to unlock and develop top talent, accelerate professional growth, and expose participants to strategic decision-making at the highest level.
Kunori's selection comes after an extensive process that began in February, attracting 18,000 applicants from around the world. The final selection involved candidates working alongside local Country Managers and attending a 'CEO for One Month' boot camp in Madrid. Kunori stood out for her authenticity, humbleness, great empathy, and readiness to take on big challenges.
During her tenure, which will last from September 15 to October 15, Kunori will participate in international business reviews, public events, and client meetings. She will also have the opportunity to learn from Dehaze and gain insights into leadership challenges, business operations, and corporate strategy, enhancing her readiness for future leadership roles.
Dehaze praised Kunori and the 34 young 'CEOs for One Month' for their passion, strong purpose, and outstanding performance. He expressed pride in having them in the company's community and commitment to supporting them in their careers. Kunori, in turn, expressed excitement about joining the program and working with Dehaze, as well as confidence in her ability to continue her journey as a 'global CEO'.
The 'CEO for One Month' program is part of Adecco's broader talent acquisition and development strategy. The company's Way to WorkTM programme offers career guidance and work-based training opportunities, while its 'our Experiences' programme provided more than 2,000 internships and apprenticeships to young people worldwide in 2015 alone.
The program highlights how global HR leaders use innovative approaches to develop future CEOs by providing unique, short-term leadership experiences to high-potential individuals. It underscores the competitive and talent-driven nature of the program, with past participants such as Thanh Nguyen (Zayn) of Adecco Vietnam advancing to the global top 10 finalists.
Other organizations, such as KBC Autolease Luxembourg, have also supported or participated in similar initiatives, reflecting a growing trend among corporate entities to foster leadership through experiential learning.

Financing the 'CEO for One Month' program will likely be handled by Adecco's financial department, considering it's a part of their broader talent acquisition and development strategy. Kunori's experience, gained from working alongside Dehaze and participating in international business reviews, public events, and client meetings, could be beneficial in her future career development, specifically in the business and education-and-self-development sectors.
