Show-stopping Concept Cars Unleashed at Pebble Beach 2025

Monterey Car Week 2025: A Showcase of Innovation and Heritage

The annual Monterey Car Week has once again proven to be a hotbed for automotive innovation and nostalgia, as several major manufacturers unveiled their latest concepts and designs. This year's event saw the debut of the Chevrolet CX Concept, a futuristic, jet-fighter-inspired all-electric Corvette concept, and the Gravity X, a transformed version of Lucid's production Gravity SUV, designed for serious off-road adventure while maintaining luxury.

Chevrolet's CX Concept: A Corvette Hypercar for the Future

The Chevrolet CX Concept, unveiled at Monterey Car Week 2025, is a design and technology showcase symbolizing the next generation of Corvette. This concept car blends heritage with innovation, preserving signature Corvette design elements such as the forward-lunging nose, the "chine" line, and dual-element quad taillights, while introducing a low roofline, fighter-jet-style forward-lifting canopy roof, and a sleek, long, low silhouette.

Powered by a quad-motor all-wheel-drive system producing over 2,000 horsepower from a 90 kWh battery pack, the CX Concept delivers extreme performance with four-wheel torque vectoring for precision cornering. Aerodynamics are enhanced by a Vacuum Fan System that actively pulls air through the body to generate downforce, supplemented by an active front diffuser and deployable rear wing for real-time aerodynamic balance and maximum grip.

The interior of the CX Concept features a minimalist design finished in Inferno Red ballistic textiles with leather, carbon fiber, and milled aluminum accents. The cockpit eschews traditional infotainment in favor of a massive head-up display projected on the windshield and physical controls embedded in a yoke-style steering wheel. The battery is mounted low in the chassis for a low center of gravity and balanced front-rear weight distribution, aiding sharp handling and stability.

Lucid's Gravity X: A Luxurious Off-Road Adventurer

Lucid Motors unveiled the Gravity X concept on August 14th, a transformed version of their production Gravity SUV designed for serious off-road adventure. The Gravity X offers a three-row configuration for up to seven passengers and their gear, exploring what happens when pushing capabilities into adventure territory.

The Gravity X features raised suspension, wider wheel arches, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and a roof rack system with integrated LED lights. The front and rear fascias are redesigned to improve approach and departure angles, with protective skid plates for rock and obstacle encounters.

Inside, the Gravity X showcases Lucid's Ojai upholstery scheme, premium leather seats, high-performance floor mats, and a microsuede steering wheel. Derek Jenkins, Lucid's SVP of Design and Brand, described the Gravity X as an aggressive approach to a more ruggedized car that speaks to a lifestyle and outdoorsiness.

The Gravity X builds on the Gravity Grand Touring's already impressive foundation, offering up to 450 miles of EPA-estimated range, all-wheel drive, and a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds.

Bentley's EXP 15 concept made its public debut at Pebble Beach, paying homage to the iconic 1930 Speed Six Gurney Nutting 'Blue Train' Sportsman coupe, but with a modern interpretation. Ford introduced the Bronco Roadster Concept at Pebble Beach, which pays homage to the 1966 U13 Bronco Roadster while blending modern sixth-generation Bronco DNA.

Lexus showcased their new Sport Concept at The Quail on August 15th, with a design that evolves from the Electrified Sport Concept and suggests a low-slung profile and aggressive stance. Chevrolet unveiled the Corvette CX and CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts at The Quail on August 15th.

Chevrolet states that both the CX Concept and the CX.R Vision Gran Turismo concepts will serve as inspiration for future Corvette design language. Lexus describes their Sport Concept as blending "dynamic and emotional elements into a vision for a next-generation sports car," but technical details and production plans remain under wraps.

The CX concept features design elements that would be impossible to manufacture with today's technology, hinting at the potential for even more radical innovations in the future. Despite this, both the CX Concept and the Gravity X serve as a testament to the ongoing fusion of heritage and cutting-edge technology in the automotive industry.
