shift in emphasis from board exams to competitive exams advocated for in civic schools by PCMC Chief

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is taking significant strides to enhance academic excellence in its schools, with a particular focus on preparing students for competitive exams and introducing cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and digital literacy. This strategic approach aims to ensure that students are well-equipped to face the challenges of a tech-driven future.

During a dialogue session organized by PCMC's Education Department, 28 students who scored above 90% in the 2024-25 Class 10 exams were honoured with a cash award of Rs 1 lakh each. Dhirendra Mahato from Jadhavwadi Secondary School and Esha Patil from Kasarwadi English Medium School spoke on behalf of the awardees, expressing gratitude for the supportive school environment, dedicated teachers, and facilities.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh commended the students' achievements in the past academic year but emphasized the need for a higher standard, especially in competitive exams. He also pledged the corporation's full support to schools, promising timely provision of sports teachers, skill training materials, and the resolution of any resource gaps.

Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil urged all schools to aim for a 100% pass rate in the SSC board exams this year. The session was attended by school heads, teachers, education department officials, and representatives from partner organizations like the ZEP Foundation.

Beyond academic excellence, PCMC is committed to nurturing well-rounded individuals. Commissioner Singh highlighted the positive contributions of initiatives like Spandan, QCI assessment, and Bharat Darshan to student learning outcomes and holistic growth. He suggested introducing students to AI and digital literacy as the next step in education progress.

PCMC's approach to education includes focused strategies for competitive exams, the integration of AI and digital literacy, and holistic education and character building. The corporation has also made strides in language learning, implementing an English as a Second Language (ESL) initiative for early grades, which has helped improve language confidence and literacy among students—further supporting academic growth and digital literacy readiness.

In summary, PCMC schools are enhancing academic excellence by blending competitive exam preparation with modern educational technologies like AI and digital literacy, supported by comprehensive initiatives to foster overall student development and readiness for future challenges. The corporation remains dedicated to providing a well-rounded education that equips students for success in all aspects of life.
