Security company Flock Safety forms alliances with MPS and Raptor Technologies for enhanced safety solutions
Flock Safety's innovative License Plate Reader (LPR) camera technology is set to enhance school safety and parking lot security, providing real-time vehicle identification, enhanced situational awareness, and actionable evidence that helps deter crime and strengthen investigations.
The technology, which has been in use with K-12 schools and educational institutions for several years, is now being employed in partnership with Raptor Technologies, a leading school safety solutions provider. This collaboration aims to improve security and efficiency during dismissal time in schools, as well as during peak hours in parking lots.
Flock Safety's LPR cameras instantly recognise license plates and vehicle characteristics, alerting security teams and law enforcement to suspicious or banned vehicles as they enter school premises or parking lots. This real-time detection and alerts system allows for rapid intervention before incidents escalate.
Beyond plate recognition, the system classifies vehicles by unique features (e.g., roof racks, aftermarket wheels), increasing identification accuracy and aiding investigation and monitoring in high-traffic areas like school parking lots. This vehicle fingerprinting technology contributes to crime deterrence and reduction by logging every vehicle and efficiently sharing data with law enforcement via a large LPR network.
The cameras require no complex IT setup and can be installed strategically at entrances and throughout campuses, ensuring full visibility with minimal operational effort. They are solar-powered and LTE-connected, allowing for quick and cost-effective installation without the need for trenching, cabling, or complex infrastructure.
In school and parking lot security contexts, Flock Safety’s LPR system facilitates proactive monitoring, rapid detection of potential threats, and comprehensive vehicle tracking to increase safety and accountability on school grounds. This technology supports school administrators and law enforcement in preventing unauthorized vehicle access and responding quickly to suspicious activity or emergencies.
Moreover, the partnership with Raptor Technologies will enable schools to automatically identify vehicles as they enter campus grounds, while the partnership with the Municipal Parking Service (MPS) allows MPS customers to access parking enforcement and payment software via Flock LPRs.
Joe Caldwell, founder of MPS, stated that they are enabling cities and businesses to use their existing infrastructure as a force multiplier with Flock. Bailey Quintrell, Chief Strategy Officer of Flock Safety, stated that Flock aims to drive positive impact through public safety and improved quality of life for communities.
Sharing LPR camera data with local law enforcement enhances overall site safety and reduces crime in the community. This collaborative approach to safety is a testament to Flock Safety's commitment to improving security and efficiency in schools and parking lots, ultimately promoting a safer environment for all.
