Sochi Hosts Final of All-Russian Research Competition for Children

The final round of the "I am a Researcher!" competition, featuring 240 research and creative projects from 27 Russian regions, kicked off in Sochi on May 28, 2025. The four thematic sections encompass humanities, the study of living and non-living nature, physics, mathematics, and technology.

Around 260 young researchers are participating, representing diverse regions such as Altai, Bashkortostan, Buryatia, Yakutia, Khakassia, Chechen Republic, and more. The competition is taking place at Gymnasium No.9 and the Center for Creative Development and Humanitarian Education in Sochi until May 30, 2025.

Among the topics explored by the participants are the structure of bird wings, microclimate in educational institutions, and the effect of the pine bark beetle on urban ecosystems.

In addition, Sirius and MGU have signed a partnership agreement focused on science and education, although details about this agreement have not been disclosed in relation to the ongoing competition in Sochi.

Sochi has a history of hosting significant student events, such as the Open International Biology Olympiad (OIBO), which was held at the Russian Sirius Educational Center in Sochi, with students from Djibouti securing a gold medal in the event[4].

The 'I am a researcher!' competition is the latest in a series of academic events being held in the coastal city, underscoring its role as a hub for Russia's next generation of researchers.
