School Board of SCSD#2 convened on Monday
The SCSD#2 Board of Trustees held a meeting on October 6, with several important matters discussed and decisions made.
The meeting commenced with Superintendent Scott Stults presenting a report, which included an update on the 'back-to-school' event attended by teachers, staff, and board members. The event was a resounding success, fostering a sense of unity and preparation for the new school year.
During the meeting, Gail Symons, a community member, addressed the board. She spoke about a letter to the editor and a call she received from a legislator, expressing concerns about misinformation regarding the funding model. This issue was also addressed by Dr. Markus Weber at the SCSD#2 plenary meeting on September 15.
In response to these concerns, Superintendent Scott Stults discussed the misinformation and reassured the community about the school district's financial stability. He also discussed the recalibration of the funding model, a topic he will continue to address in his chats with the Superintendent this fall.
Trustee Doug Moore reported that he had been 'Adopt a School' by the board members. This initiative aims to foster a closer relationship between the board and the schools, ensuring a more effective and supportive environment for students and staff.
Troy Decker, Facilities Director, discussed ongoing projects, including the Fifth Street greenhouse and the new equipment at the Story Elementary playground. These projects are part of the district's ongoing commitment to providing students with a safe, stimulating, and enjoyable learning environment.
A significant decision made at the meeting was the approval of isolation payment requests for three families in the district. This decision underscores the district's dedication to supporting families during challenging times.
Kristie Garriffa, Assistant Superintendent, presented a report about the 2024-25 WY-TOPP and ACT data for the school. The data showed that SCSD#2 continues to score above the state average on test scores, reflecting the district's commitment to academic excellence.
The next meeting will be held on Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in the SCSD#2 District Central Office Board Room. The community is encouraged to attend and stay informed about the district's progress and decisions.
