Saudi Arabia Boosts Local Hiring in Tourism with New Rules
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism has implemented new rules to boost local employment in the tourism sector. The regulations, announced recently, aim to secure jobs for Saudi nationals and enhance compliance with labour laws.
Key among the new rules is a ban on outsourcing jobs designated for localization to entities or workers outside the Kingdom. This move is designed to create more job opportunities for Saudi citizens.
All tourism establishments must now register their employees with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development before they start work. Additionally, hospitality facilities must have a Saudi receptionist present during operating hours. Companies with multiple branches must register employees under the license of each specific branch to ensure accurate record-keeping.
To facilitate these changes, contracts for subcontracted, seasonal, or seconded staff must be processed through approved systems like the Ajeer platform. Outsourcing is limited to establishments licensed by the Ministry of Tourism or authorized by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development.
The Ministry of Tourism will strictly monitor compliance with these new regulations, working in coordination with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development. Violations will be addressed accordingly. These measures are part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to support and develop its tourism industry while ensuring the welfare of its citizens.
