RMIT & Mykolas Romeris Launch Australia's First Hybrid Threat Centre
RMIT University and Mykolas Romeris University have collaborated to establish the Australian-Lithuanian Hybrid Threat Centre (ALHTC), the first of its kind in Australia. Launched on 13th December 2022, this initiative aims to enhance understanding and resilience against hybrid threats, which target multiple aspects of society and industry.
Hybrid threats, carried out by state and non-state actors, combine physical, cyber, information, and economic attacks to disrupt and dispute key sectors. The ALHTC, a joint initiative of the Australian Lithuanian Cyber Research Network (ALCRN), will assess the societal and organisational impact of these threats and explore their potential effects on critical infrastructure.
The Centre, established in February 2022, is a testament to RMIT's leadership in cybersecurity research. It aims to undertake joint research projects in Australia and Lithuania, developing a comprehensive understanding of hybrid threats and their implications. Additionally, the ALHTC will host a joint seminar series and publish thought leadership articles to share its findings and insights with the wider community.
The Australian-Lithuanian Hybrid Threat Centre, launched by the ALCRN, is set to play a crucial role in enhancing Australia's resilience against hybrid threats. Through its research, seminars, and publications, the Centre will contribute to a better understanding of these complex challenges, ultimately helping to protect society and industry from their devastating impacts.
