Research progresses to the following stage for young individuals
Get ready for an exciting event that celebrates young talent in the fields of science and technology! The 59th round of Jugend forscht will take place at Pforzheim University on 22 and 23 February 2024.
This prestigious competition, organised by Pforzheim University, Witzenmann GmbH, and the municipal enterprise Wirtschaft und Stadtmarketing Pforzheim, aims to promote and support young researchers up to the age of 21 in realising their innovative projects. Cash and material prizes worth over one million euros will be awarded on all three competition levels.
If you're between the ages of 15 and 21 and are currently in school or vocational training in Germany, you're eligible to participate. Younger participants from grade 4 onwards can compete in the Schüler experimentieren juniors category.
To enter, you'll need to prepare a scientific or technical project independently or in a team, register via the official Jugend forscht website or regional organisers by filling out an online application form, and submit a project summary or exposé. Regional competitions will take place nationwide from February 2024, and winners of these regional competitions will advance to the state level in March and April.
The best participants will qualify for the 59th federal final from 30 May to 2 June 2024. Research topics must fit into one of the seven Jugend forscht subject areas: Working World, Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Sciences, Mathematics/Informatics, Physics, and Technology. The competition theme for 2024 is "Make a Head for Yourself!".
