Munich - The labor market appears to be a tough nut for those aged 16 to 29 to crack, as per a LinkedIn survey of nearly 1,500 individuals in this age group. A staggering 58% of the so-called Gen Zers believe that today's employment scene is far tougher than it was a handful of years ago.

Unbalanced Expectations and Soaring Aspirations

What's fueling this growing sentiment? An overwhelming 59% admit that companies instill unrealistic demands on entry-level candidates, making the application process more daunting.

Yet, the economic climate (49%) and personal aspirations towards flexibility and a wholesome work-life balance (46%) are also brought up as probable reasons for the increased challenge. Furthermore, around one-third (31%) feels that the educational system doesn't fully prepare them for the harsh realities of the professional world.

Two-thirds (66%) of the respondents are convinced that the modern-day workplace is a far cry from the one their parents entered all those years ago.

Parents as Guides- Caught in a Miscommunication Tangle

When it comes to queries about career decisions, 48% of молодые люди turn to their parents for advice. However, the conversation isn't always smooth. A third (33%) of the respondents confess they often feel misunderstood by their parents regarding their career ambitions and the hurdles they face in the contemporary job market.

Similarly, 37% admit that their parents haven't a clue about the latest developments in the job industry- they're oblivious to the emergence of new roles, traditional career paths, and flexible work models. A stark 45% even doubt whether their parents can accurately assess potential job strengths and pitfalls.
