New Leadership Joins Advisor Board of Maxwell
Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs welcomes Cathy Daicoff G'79 as the new chair of its Advisory Board, effective from the spring of 2025. Daicoff assumed leadership at the board's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
Daicoff is a 25-year veteran of the Advisory Board, previously serving as its vice chair since 2019. She takes over from Ron O'Hanley '80, who had been leading the board since 2015 and has now been appointed to continue as a member.
Dean David M. Van Slyke expressed his appreciation for Daicoff's service and O'Hanley's leadership, stating, "Both have made and continue to make immeasurable contributions to the school, its community, and its mission, and I look forward to more accomplishments ahead under Cathy's board leadership." Nate Shanok '98, who succeeds Daicoff as vice chair, was also acknowledged for his extensive support to the students and key initiatives.
The Maxwell Advisory Board, composed of alumni and friends, convenes twice annually to provide strategic counsel to the dean and senior leadership on areas like policy, planning, fundraising, alumni relations, and communications. Members bring a diverse range of experiences and expertise, enriching Maxwell's academic programs.
Daicoff expressed enthusiasm for her new role, stating, "It's always an honor to give back to the school that helped me acquire the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to be successful in my career." Her dedication and philanthropy have been rewarded with the Centennial Steward Award in 2024, and her generous contributions have helped the school attract and retain world-class faculty.
Daicoff has a distinguished career in domestic and international finance, with 38 years of service at Standard & Poor's Ratings Services, where she retired as a managing director in 2016. Nate Shanok '98, her successor as vice chair, serves as senior managing director and co-head of Global Equity Capital Markets for Tishman Speyer.
The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs can count on Daicoff's leadership as it faces contemporary challenges and prepares future leaders.
Cathy Daicoff's dedication to education-and-self-development, evident through her long-standing service on Syracuse University's Maxwell School Advisory Board, will undoubtedly contribute to her personal-growth as she assumed the role of chair in 2025. By giving back to the school that played a significant role in her career success, Daicoff demonstrates a commitment to both her alma mater and ongoing personal-growth.
