New leader appointed at Augustinus High School

The Augustinus-Gymnasium in Weiden is set for a change in leadership, with Dr. Ulrich Winter taking over as the new headmaster from Helmut Matejka, who is retiring after 30 years of service. Dr. Winter, currently the deputy headmaster at the Erasmus-Gymnasium in Amberg, will commence his new role on August 1.

Dr. Winter has already familiarised himself with the Augustinus-Gymnasium through some handover talks, and finds the school's freshly renovated buildings, bright rooms, and friendly students to be a welcoming change. The school shares the same number of students, 440, as the Erasmus-Gymnasium.

Dr. Winter's future deputy at the Augustinus-Gymnasium will be Studiendirektor Thomas Kreuzer, a mathematics and physics teacher who has been at the school since 1999. Kreuzer is a graduate of the "Kepler" and has been a member of the school management, responsible for lesson planning, official notifications, digitization, and personnel matters.

Edith Lippe, the current deputy headmaster (English, French) at the Augustinus-Gymnasium, will also retire. Lippe, who is responsible for English and French at the school, has been instrumental in the school's success and will be greatly missed.

Dr. Winter, a classics philology, German studies, and philosophy graduate from Heidelberg, Eichstätt, and Munich, has worked in every administrative region except Middle Franconia and Swabia. In his free time, he enjoys going to the opera, visiting the theater, experimenting with herbs in the kitchen, and dealing with archaeology.

The new deputy headmaster at the Augustinus-Gymnasium will be Studiendirektor Thomas Kreuzer, who will also take on personnel responsibility in the future. Dr. Winter will commute daily to the school, residing in the northern Landkreis Regensburg with his wife, who is a native of Regensburg.

The search results do not provide the name of the new deputy head of studies (stellvertretenden Studiendirektors) at the Augustinus-Schule in Weiden. We will keep you updated on any developments in this regard.
