Nepal's Educators Use Holidays for Agricultural Activities and Personal Growth

Principals and teachers in Kailali, Nepal, are making the most of their Dashain and Tihar holidays by engaging in agricultural activities and personal development. While some are tending to crops and producing seedlings, others are using the time to further their own studies.

Kammansingh Bohara, Principal of Kalika Basic School, has initiated a unique programme. He invites grade 4 and 5 students to school every Sunday, keeping them engaged in studies even during holidays.

Meanwhile, Buddhiram Chaudhary, Principal of Himalaya Secondary School, is spending his break caring for crops, planting vegetables, and reading books. He is not alone in this. During the Dashain holidays, Principals Buddhiram Chaudhary of Himalaya Secondary School, Ghiyaka, and Jang Bahadur Chaudhary of Padma Basic School were seen engaging in similar agricultural activities, alongside helping maintain student engagement. Raghunath Upadhyay, Principal of Janaprakash Basic School, is using the holiday to work with his family, grow winter vegetables, and continue his own studies. Jang Bahadur Chaudhary, Principal of Padma Basic School, is also productive, spending his time producing and selling vegetable seedlings.

The dedication of these educators during the holidays is commendable. Their efforts not only ensure students' academic progress but also set an example for the community, demonstrating the value of productive use of time and continuous learning.
