New Institute Auditor at MIT: Michael J. Moody Takes Over

Michael J. Moody has assumed the role of Institute Auditor at MIT, as announced recently. This position, which includes overseeing internal audits to ensure compliance, financial integrity, risk management, and operational efficiency, was previously held by Deborah Fisher.

Moody brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Since 2004, he has served as the director of compliance in the Office for Audit and Advisory Services at Northwestern University. Prior to that, he was the director of audits at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Moody also held the position of director of internal audit in the Office of the Comptroller for the state of Illinois.

Before his career in education, Moody worked as a senior associate at the public accounting firm Coopers and Lybrand. His academic background includes a bachelor of science in finance from Northeastern Illinois University. Moody is also certified in various auditing and risk management fields, holding the certified internal auditor, certified information systems auditor, and certified inspector general designations, as well as a certification in risk management assurance.

Moody takes over from Fisher, who served as Institute Auditor since 2000. In the announcement, Executive Vice President and Treasurer Israel Ruiz applauded Fisher for her exceptional leadership of the Audit Division and reliable support of the Risk and Audit Committee of the MIT Corporation.

The risk-based program that Moody will deliver as Institute Auditor will assess the safeguarding of assets, adequacy of internal controls, compliance with laws and regulations, and adherence to ethical practices. However, specific details about Moody's background and responsibilities at MIT are not yet available.

For precise and current information about Moody's appointment at MIT, it is recommended to check MIT’s official communications, press releases, or the Institute Auditor’s office webpage directly. Moody started as the Institute Auditor on an unspecified date, having previously served at an unspecified institution on February 18.

Moody's appointment fills the position vacated by Fisher, who took up the role of Institute Risk Officer at MIT on July 1. It is important to note that Moody has not been specified as the Institute Risk Officer at MIT.

Over the course of his 25-year career in audit, compliance, and financial sectors, Moody has demonstrated a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism. As the Institute Auditor, he will deliver audit services through a risk-based program.

Michael J. Moody, with his extensive background in compliance and risk management, will bring his skills in public accounting, finance, and auditing to his new role as Institute Auditor at MIT. In this position, he will prioritize public science education-and-self-development, career-development, and skills-training by ensuring operational efficiency, financial integrity, and adherence to ethical practices within MIT.
