Malaysia to Launch ASEAN AI Safety Network at 'Powering the Intelligent Age' Summit
The 'Powering the Intelligent Age' summit, co-hosted by the Malaysia Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (MYCentre4IR) and the World Economic Forum (WEF), is set to take place on 28 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur. The event, organised by Huawei, aims to define Southeast Asia's path into the Intelligent Age through common rules, scalable pilots, and cross-border partnerships.
The summit seeks to move beyond policy discussions and drive innovation that benefits Southeast Asia and extends globally. Key focus areas include advancing shared frameworks for AI governance, clean industrial pathways, and inclusive digital growth. Additionally, the summit will cover topics such as industrial transformation, digitalisation, ESG, resilient ecosystems, and regional energy cooperation, including the ASEAN Power Grid and nuclear readiness.
A significant outcome expected from the summit is the launch of the ASEAN AI Safety Network (ASEAN AI SAFE), a regional platform for AI governance and ethics, with a formal declaration anticipated at the 47th ASEAN Leaders Summit later in October 2025. Another initiative, the Transitioning Industrial Clusters (TIC), will make its debut at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos in January 2026.
Malaysia's Minister of Digital, YB Gobind Singh Deo, will deliver the opening remarks and participate in a leaders' dialogue at the summit. The 'Powering the Intelligent Age' summit is poised to bring together key stakeholders to navigate the region's path into the Intelligent Age, fostering innovation, cooperation, and sustainable growth.
