Local authorities in Arnsberg and Meschede are proposing the establishment of a joint art school for youth.
The cities of Arnsberg and Meschede in North Rhine-Westphalia are set to embark on an exciting new cultural journey. The Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia has announced plans to support the establishment of an intermunicipal youth art school, with a focus on these two cities and the nearby town of Sundern.
The project, which will be funded and supported for a period of three years, aims to introduce a joint program of cultural education that meets the necessary criteria of a youth art school. The project will be managed by the "Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte Mühle e.V." from Schmallenberg, under the leadership of Beate Herrmann.
Activities focusing on networking will be started this year, involving cultural creators from the aforementioned cities. Interested artists are invited to contact the "Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte Mühle e.V." for potential participation. A total of eight KUMOs - four in Meschede, four in Arnsberg - will be given away as part of the project.
The project will primarily focus on extracurricular offers, but long-term cooperation with schools and open full-day care is also conceivable. Facilities such as youth centers, youth rooms, libraries, and workshops of artists will be included in the project.
The cities of Arnsberg and Meschede will bear approximately one third of the costs as their own contribution. The Förderkreis Kunst und Kultur Kloster Wedinghausen e.V. will also support the project.
To gather input from the cities, the "Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte Mühle e.V." will start on-site with the art mobile (KUMO) this year. Interested parties from Arnsberg can register with Kirsten Minkel, head of the cultural office of the city of Arnsberg, at 02932/201-1120 or by email: k.minkel@unsere website. The date of registration decides, with the important condition that the offer must take place this year.
In addition to Beate Herrmann, Kirsten Minkel from the cultural office of the city of Arnsberg and Anne Wiegel from the department of generations, education, and leisure of the city of Meschede will coordinate the project locally. The project will fall under the framework of the Regional Cultural Programme NRW (RKP).
A 30-hour cultural participation offer for children and young people will be developed through the KUMO program. The project will focus on fostering networking and cultural creativity, with the ultimate goal of transferring the joint program of cultural education to a carrier model in the long term.
