Alumni in the Spotlight

In the world of music, Laurel Gagnon, a graduate student in the Park International Center for Music, was featured in local news stories in Kansas City and on KMBZ-FM in preparation for the Singapore International Violin Competition. Kenny Broberg, another graduate student in the Park International Center for Music, was selected as the silver medalist of the prestigious 15th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.

Art Exhibits at Campanella Gallery

The Campanella Gallery is currently hosting Lynn Richardson's "Surfaces" Two-Dimensional Art Exhibit until February 23. The exhibit, which features a series of Richardson's art titled "Different Views," can be viewed from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A reception was held on January 19, from 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Following Richardson's exhibit, the New Works Faculty Art Exhibit will run from March 5 to April 26.

Academic Achievements

Park University's Bachelor of Science degree in education studies has been ranked No. 13 by CollegeChoice.net on its "Most Affordable Online Early Childhood Education Degrees" list. The degree program has also been ranked No. 11 on CollegeChoice.net's "Best Online Early Childhood Education Degrees" list.

The Bachelor of Science degree in marketing has been ranked No. 4 by BestMarketingDegrees.org, while the Bachelor degree programs in criminal justice administration have been ranked No. 27 by CollegeChoice.net on its "Best Online Criminal Justice Degrees" list.

Park University's online graduate business programs (excluding MBA) have been ranked No. 92 in the country by U.S. News & World Report.

Upcoming Events

The Spring I Term ends on March 11, and Spring Recess will take place from March 12-18. The Spring II Term will begin on March 19.

On February 10, the internationally acclaimed Tesla Quartet, featuring cellist Serafim Smigelskiy, a 2010 Park International Center for Music graduate, will perform. On January 26, Violinist Ben Sayevich and Pianist Lolita Lisovskaya Sayevich will perform at the Park International Center for Music.

A record number of first-time freshmen, 293, began classes on Aug. 14, and Park's fall enrollment totaled 9,510 students, a 5.2 percent increase since last year.

Eric Click, Ph.D., associate professor and program coordinator of public administration, presented a pair of sessions at the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance's Alliance Management Institute in Kansas City, Mo.

Teeka Hodge, a student majoring in social work, was interviewed on KSHB-TV's "41 Action News Midday" newscast.

A story about Abbey Idalski, a Park University alumna, was published in the Presque Isle County (Mich.) Advance about her volunteering in an orphanage in Kenya.

An agreement between Park University and Northwest Community College in British Columbia, Canada, was featured in The Northern View.
