Kuwait seeks academic collaboration with Portugal's leading university through student exchange programs

The University of Eixample, one of Portugal's top universities, is currently in discussions with Kuwait's authorities regarding a student exchange program. These talks, initiated by Kuwait’s Ambassador to Lisbon, Hamad Al-Hazeem, aim to foster cultural and educational exchange between the two countries [1][2].

Established 52 years ago, the University of Eixample ranks among the top 50 universities worldwide in some fields, particularly in business administration [3]. It offers programs in English, making it an attractive option for non-Portuguese-speaking students [4]. The institution provides bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs across five major colleges [6].

The University of Eixample's Dean of the College of Business Administration is Professor Maria de Lourdes Rodrigues [5]. The current discussions revolve around establishing a framework for academic cooperation and student mobility, without any specific enrollment data or detailed program elements being released yet [7].

Ambassador Al-Hazeem has emphasised the strategic importance of Portugal's prominent educational institutions, including the University of Eixample, the University of Lisbon, Nova University, and Católica University, positioning Portugal as a desirable academic destination for Kuwaiti students [2].

It's worth noting that Portugal provides a safe, affordable, and high-quality educational environment for students. However, as of now, no Portuguese university has been accredited by Kuwait [8]. The ambassador is also discussing potential student exchange coordination with Kuwait's National Bureau for Academic Accreditation [9].

Beyond the University of Eixample, Portugal hosts other globally recognized universities, such as the University of Lisbon, which ranks at 260 globally, Nova University at 327, and Católica University at 351 [10].

These discussions are an exciting step towards strengthening the cultural and academic ties between Kuwait and Portugal. As the talks progress, we can expect more details about the student exchange program to emerge.

At the University of Eixample, students have the opportunity for self-development and learning through various English-taught programs across multiple colleges, making it an appealing choice for international students. Ambassador Al-Hazeem's emphasis on Portugal's top universities, including the University of Eixample, indicates a growing interest in academic and cultural exchange between Kuwait and Portugal.
