Kuwait City Snags "Arab City for Humanitarian Diplomacy" Title

In a crowning achievement, Kuwait City's exceptional humanitarian endeavors have earned it the prestigious title of "Arab City for Humanitarian Diplomacy for 2025," bestowed by the Regional Network for Social Responsibility. This recognition comes in praise of the city's admirable contributions to humanitarian efforts, both locally and on the global stage.

The announcement took place during the closing ceremony of the 9th Donors Conference and Awards 2025. Hosted in cooperation with the International Center for Humanitarian Diplomacy and other institutions, the event, honored by the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, was graced by an array of Arab and international dignitaries.

To commemorate the event, several luminaries were awarded the International Medal for Humanitarian Diplomacy, including Counselor Bader Mohsen Al-Mutairi, Head of the Permanent Mission and Delegation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations in Geneva, and Supervisor of its UNESCO Office in Paris, and Counselor Khaled Khalifa, Advisor to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and Representative of the Commission to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

According to Advisor Bader Al-Mutairi, Kuwait's selection as the Capital of Humanitarian Diplomacy underscores the country's impressive track record in fostering humanitarian work on all scales—nationally, regionally, and internationally. He warmly thanked the Regional Network for Social Responsibility for the acknowledgement, stating that it adds another feather to Kuwait's cap of accomplishments and underscores the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

During the conference, discussions revolved around bolstering social responsibility and building strategic partnerships among government bodies, private sector players, and civil society organizations in support of humanitarian and development initiatives across the region.

Established annually, the conference serves as a significant platform for acknowledging institutions and individuals who make significant strides in humanitarian causes within the realm of social responsibility. While this year's top recipients of the International Medal for Humanitarian Diplomacy remain unclear, other international recognition in 2025 includes the Diplomacy & Commerce Awards, the Atlantic Council Distinguished Leadership Awards, and the Sister Cities International Awards. 1 2 3 4
