Kazakhstan Celebrates 275th Anniversary of Beket Ata, Honors Spiritual Mentor, Seeks UNESCO Heritage Listing
Kazakhstan recently celebrated the 275th anniversary of Beket Ata Myrzagululy and Shopan Ata in Mangistau region. The two-day event, held in Tobykty, attracted over 10,000 guests from Kazakhstan and abroad. It included a rich cultural program, national sports competitions, and efforts to list historical sites on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The event honoured Beket Ata, a great thinker and spiritual mentor who enriched the spiritual worldview of the people. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev sent a congratulatory letter recognising his significance in the nation's spiritual life. The event was attended by deputies of the RK Parliament, representatives of the intelligentsia, public figures, youth, and others.
A person working under the President's instruction carried out efforts to list the underground mosque in Oglandy and other historical sites in the Tobykty area on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The event also included a rich spiritual and cultural program with prominent personalities sharing thoughts on unity and solidarity. The concert program 'Mangystau's heart' and the evening of traditional art 'Aulieiler auesi' were part of the event. National sports competitions, such as horse races, alaman-baige, kazaksha kures, and weightlifting, were also organized. More than 100 yurts were set up for guests, and an as was held.

It not only honoured a great spiritual mentor but also highlighted the region's rich cultural heritage and unity.
