International Art Today: Annual Publication Showcases Global Contemporary Artists

Martina Kolle and Dr. Ingrid Gardill launched a unique project in 2014, 'International Art Today', an annual publication showcasing contemporary artists worldwide. This initiative, distinct from the Kerber Verlag, focuses on releasing books about current artists, not utilitarian objects. The first volume was published in 2014, with subsequent volumes appearing yearly.

The project selects works through a jury led by Dr. Ingrid Gardill, an art historian and critic, ensuring a diverse range of artists and mediums. Each volume features two to three works per double page, accompanied by analysis and artist biographies. The books are published in German and can be purchased online or at art and book fairs like the Frankfurt Book Fair or ARTMUC in Munich.

The Art Today Award, presented in 2016, recognized Hans Zeegers from the Netherlands with the photography category's main prize of €2,500. The project aims to provide an annual overview of contemporary art, including painting, photography, digital art, installations, and drawings. Art, as a form of human expression and communication, remains open to interpretation, regardless of its origin or utilitarian purpose.

International Art Today, initiated by Martina Kolle and Dr. Ingrid Gardill, continues to publish yearly volumes, providing a comprehensive overview of contemporary art. The project's dedication to showcasing diverse artists and mediums ensures its relevance and importance in the art world.
