Interactive Resource for Family Health Matters

In the heart of Bamberg, the city and district's "Klarwerk - when everything sucks" programme and the Bamberg Health Department recently joined forces to host a health-focused event. This collaboration aimed to provide essential information and support to children, young people, and families, particularly in dealing with psychological stress.

The event, a MiMi Health Day, was part of the meeteinander project's leisure festival, held at the Ost Youth Center. The day was filled with engaging activities, including a sugar exhibition, a mega floor newspaper quiz about hepatitis C, and a demonstration of dental hygiene skills using a giant toothbrush and tooth model.

One of the special highlights of the Klarwerk programme is the provision of free online parent evenings that tackle various topics, such as puberty, fears in adolescence, self-harm, and drug prevention. These evenings are designed to support parents in navigating the challenges their children may face.

The Intercultural Health Project MiMi-Bayern - "With Migrants for Migrants" had a stand where visitors could learn about family health. The goal of this initiative, within the Ethno-Medizin-Zentrum e.V., is to improve health communication and access for migrants by using trained migrant peers to convey health information within their communities. Numerous committed and well-integrated migrants in Bamberg have been trained as intercultural MiMi mediators by the Bamberg Health Department. These intercultural MiMi mediators pass on their knowledge in their native language to fellow countrymen in Bamberg, covering 20 different topics.

MiMi-Bayern promotes the health literacy of migrants through multilingual and culturally sensitive information. MiMi-Info Events are free, group-based information sessions that can be held in 13 languages, including Arabic, Armenian, Chinese, German, English, French, Kurdish, Persian, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Marina Glasunova, Anca Marza, Tatjana Schell, Yvonne Rüttger, and Sarah Scheller were available to answer questions and provide information in multiple languages.

For more information about MiMi-Bayern, contact location coordinator Yvonne Rüttger at yvonne.ruettger@ourwebsite or 0951/87-1446, or visit www.ourwebsite/mimi. Bamberg has been a MiMi-Bayern project location for 13 years, with the coordinating office at the Inclusion Department of the City of Bamberg.

The Bamberg Health Department is a long-standing cooperation partner of the MiMi project. The health project, a joint effort of the Ethno-Medical Center e.V., is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Health, Care, and Prevention, and supported by MSD Sharp & Dohme GmbH.

In addition to the MiMi-Bayern project, the state-recognized counseling center for pregnancy issues at the Bamberg District Office offers comprehensive, free, and confidential support for all questions related to pregnancy, birth, family planning, and life with a child. Further information on the online offers and comprehensive support services can be found at www.klarwerk-bamberg.de.
