Instructions for submitting an application for BA and BFA programs

The BA+BFA program at Oberlin College's College of Arts and Sciences is a unique five-year integrated degree program that combines a Bachelor of Arts (BA) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Integrated Arts. This joint degree offers students a comprehensive education in both liberal arts and professional fine arts training.

The BFA cannot be earned standalone; it is designed exclusively to be completed in combination with the BA, with many BFA requirements integrated into the BA curriculum. Students must complete the full five-year program to earn the BFA component. Financial aid and merit scholarships are available and renewable for all five years of the BA+BFA program.

Current Oberlin students pursuing a BA may apply for a Change of Degree Program to enter the BA+BFA program, and may also drop the BFA portion by no later than the fall of their senior year, opting to pursue only the BA. Students have the option to apply to both the BA+BFA program and the Conservatory of Music (which offers a Bachelor of Music [BM]), but cannot pursue the BM and BFA simultaneously. If admitted to both, the student must choose one path. For those interested in both BM and BA degrees, Oberlin offers a separate Double Degree program also completed in five years.

The BA+BFA program's fifth year is spent in an immersive, focused environment within the professional arts community in Cleveland. Students spend four years on Oberlin's campus and one year in Cleveland, gaining valuable professional experience in the arts industry. The curriculum for the fifth year was not provided in the search results, but it is expected to include studio or performance courses alongside liberal arts studies.

The degree earned through the BA+BFA program is a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Integrated Arts. The program is exclusive to the College of Arts and Sciences at Oberlin.
