Industry Workshop: Teaming Up with Business Titans, Featuring Nick Long (Involvement with MGK, King Princess)
In an exciting turn of events, renowned music producer and songwriter Nick Long is set to grace the stage at the upcoming PBLA Industry Talks session on June 9th. Known for his collaborations with prominent artists in the alternative and pop genres, Long's work has made a significant impact in the music industry.
Long, who has worked extensively with Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), is credited as a producer on MGK's upcoming seventh studio album, *Lost Americana* (2025). This highly-anticipated album is a follow-up to MGK's 2022 album *Mainstream Sellout*. Long also co-produced the lead single "Cliché" from *Lost Americana*, a track that marks a stylistic shift towards pop, drawing comparisons to early 2000s pop punk, and reminiscent of Blink-182.
Long's contributions don't stop there. He has also collaborated with King Princess on 10 songs, co-produced "Electric Love" by BØRNS, and co-wrote "1950" by King Princess. His work on Machine Gun Kelly's Billboard #1 album Tickets to My Downfall saw him responsible for 13 songs.
The PBLA Industry Talks series, hosted by Marko DeSantis, a key music business instructor and former lead guitarist for the rock band Sugarcult, promises to be an enlightening event. During the session, Long will share insights on becoming a successful writer and producer, discuss what sparks his inspiration, how he pushes through creative blocks, and the essential elements of a chart-topping hit.
