UCLA's WERD Kicks Off "Office Hours" with Kaskade

Get ready for an exciting new series at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)! "Office Hours," a live-streamed interview series produced by the Music Industry Committee at UCLA (MIC at UCLA), UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, Tumblr, and WERD, is set to launch on January 19.

WERD, a live magazine experience founded and curated by Steve Baltin, has been bringing together musicians and fans in an intimate setting since its premiere event in November 2015. Notable artists who have graced the WERD stage include Brandon Boyd of Incubus, G-Eazy, Moby, Dua Lipa, Joy Formidable, and Linkin Park's Brad Delson.

The inaugural guest for "Office Hours" is Kaskade, a renowned singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, and remixer. Kaskade has expressed his excitement about talking about the music industry with UCLA students. American rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly is scheduled to appear on "Office Hours" in February. More guests will be announced.

"Office Hours" aims to offer career insights and tips to students on how to break into the music industry. UCLA students and faculty can join "Office Hours" live, requiring registration with a valid UCLA ID. UCLA students and the Tumblr community can submit questions for guests in advance and during the live interview at the WERD Tumblr Ask Box.

The Music Industry Committee at UCLA offers events and networking opportunities to students who wish to learn more about the music industry. Founded in fall 2016 by brothers David and Allan Brik, both UCLA students, the committee has been making strides in providing valuable resources to aspiring music industry professionals.

Brad Delson, a UCLA alumnus and founding member of Linkin Park, piloted an offline installment of "Office Hours" during a campus visit in November. The series is also produced in partnership with Tumblr and the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music.
