Imagine Worldwide's Co-CEOs Honored for Solar-Powered Tablets Boosting Literacy
Imagine Worldwide's Co-CEOs Rapelang Rabana and Joe Wolf have been honoured for their innovative, solar-powered tablets designed to boost literacy and numeracy in underprivileged communities. Meanwhile, four education leaders, including Dr Frederick Bertley and Dr Cathy Davidson, have received the 2025 McGraw Prize, each awarded $50,000.
Rabana and Wolf's tablets, which work offline and are scalable, have been recognised for their potential to democratise education. The devices, powered by sunlight, provide content in local languages and are designed to be affordable and durable.
Dr Bertley, President and CEO at COSI, was recognised for transforming a regional science centre into a global leader in STEM education. His efforts have resulted in over a million learners being reached annually. Dr Davidson, a Distinguished Professor at CUNY Graduate Centre, was awarded for her work in reimagining higher education through digital literacy and student-centred learning.
The 2025 McGraw Prize winners demonstrate the power of innovative thinking in education. While the 2026 ETIH Innovation Awards results remain unavailable, the recognition of Rabana, Wolf, Bertley, and Davidson highlights the ongoing efforts to improve learning experiences worldwide.
