Cycling Education Initiative Launched in Düsseldorf

In a bid to promote road safety, control of bicycles, and reduce accidents while cycling, Erwin Lautwein, the head of continuing education at ADFC Düsseldorf, has launched an education initiative for cyclists. The initiative, which began in January, has seen nine online events successfully organized so far.

The courses, open to both the general public and ADFC Düsseldorf members, aim to improve competencies in areas such as road safety, handling of bicycles, and anticipatory cycling. By equipping cyclists with the necessary skills, the initiative hopes to make bicycles safer, reduce personal errors, and allow for better handling of others' errors.

Even with the right of way, left-turn accidents can occur. However, a timely shoulder check can prevent such incidents, a concept that is emphasized in the courses.

Lautwein plans to offer repair/maintenance and adjustment courses with hands-on work on one's own bicycle as in-person events starting from September or October. These courses are expected to further enhance the technical condition of bicycles, resulting in more bicycles in better condition.

The initiative has sparked high interest from the start, with participation in the online events increasing significantly. Interested parties come from various regions, including North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) and other federal states.

For more information about the continuing education initiative, please contact ADFC Düsseldorf at 0211 15835150.

It's worth noting that while there are related cycling events in Düsseldorf such as the Cyclingworld Düsseldorf 2025, no connection to Erwin Lautwein or ADFC Düsseldorf education efforts was mentioned. For the most accurate and detailed information on Erwin Lautwein’s continuing education initiatives and upcoming ADFC Düsseldorf events focused on cyclists, it is recommended to check the official ADFC Düsseldorf website or their local communications. Lautwein anticipates that the continuing education offerings and peer interactions will lead to increased respect, tolerance, and safety on the roads, potentially reducing accidents and conflicts with other road users.

This education initiative, launched by Erwin Lautwein of ADFC Düsseldorf, not only focuses on road safety and handling of bicycles but also extends to other crucial aspects of a cyclist's lifestyle, such as learning about anticipatory cycling and cycling-related education and self-development. By attending these courses, cyclists can equip themselves with the necessary skills, fostering a safer cycling community and promoting learning as an integral part of the cycling lifestyle.
