May 24 Marks the Conclusion of Yakutia Republic's Cultural Festival

The Yakutia republic concluded its annual festival "On the Wings of the Steller's Sea Eagle and the Firebird" on May 24, attracting over 70 participants from various regions. This year saw an expansion of the festival, with applications received from Mirinsky, Ust-Yansky, and Megino-Kangalassky districts.

The event, held in eight categories, encompassed both creative and professional fields. The creative categories included Acting, Poetry, Prose, Russian Song, and Russian Dance. For educational institutions, there were categories for Russian Language and Literature Teachers and Lecturers, while a new category, Preschool Educator, was introduced this year.

Minister of External Relations and Nationalities Affairs Gavril Kirillin noted, "Cyrillic, created by holy enlighteners, has become the foundation of our writing, uniting not only Slavic peoples but also Yakutian cultures." He further stated that the festival strengthens Russian language traditions within the state program for preserving linguistic heritage.

The festival coincided with the unveiling of a memorial plaque to poet Joseph Brodsky at the Yakutsk airport. Alexander Podgornov, Deputy Chairman of the State Assembly (Il Tumen), emphasized the deep connection between Russian literature's history and contemporary culture that such projects help foster.

The festival's expansion to multiple districts allows for the showcasing of diverse local traditions and platforms for smaller communities to celebrate their cultural identity. It also promotes cultural exchange between different ethnic groups of Yakutia, fostering unity and regional pride.
