Sverdlovsk Oblast, home to Yekaterinburg, is stepping up its efforts to train more doctors and pharmacists to meet the healthcare needs of its residents. Governor Denis Pasler announced recently that he has allocated 235 million rubles from the regional budget for the training of 195 doctors in specialist programs and 67 in residency programs.

The training will take place in regional hospitals, but the Governor did not specify which hospitals will be involved. The funds will be used to strengthen the staffing potential of hospitals in the region.

This move is part of an ongoing effort to continue the successful implementation of the national project "Long and Active Life" in the region. The project, which aims to enhance public health and longevity, is one of several government initiatives aimed at supporting health workers and improving medical services in regions like Sverdlovsk.

The training of doctors in Sverdlovsk Oblast aligns with broader federal programs aimed at improving healthcare quality and availability. For example, the "County Doctor" programme provides incentives and support for medical professionals working in rural and small urban areas.

The announcement emphasizes the importance of professionalism in the medical field. This commitment to excellence in medical education is reflected in the medical universities in the region, which provide higher education training for doctors and pharmacists, supporting regional healthcare needs.

Approximately 40 million rubles will be allocated annually from the regional budget for the next five years for training specialists with higher education. The training will cover various specialties, with 130 doctors to be trained in "General Medicine", 45 in Pediatrics, 10 in "Medico-Prophylactic Affairs", and the same number in "Stomatology".

The Governor made the announcement in his Telegram channel, but no specific details about the timeline for the training program were provided. It's worth noting that the report does not provide any new information about the guaranteed employment of doctors after graduation, a practice that is in place for these target recruits.

Recently, Ural State Medical University staff participated in the forum "Transformation of youth policy in medical and pharmaceutical universities", demonstrating a commitment to ongoing professional development and innovation in medical education. The allocation of funds for medical training in Sverdlovsk Oblast is part of an active preparation of qualified personnel in the region, contributing to the national health goals under the "Long and Active Life" project and related initiatives.

Science and education are integral parts of the healthcare improvement strategy in Sverdlovsk Oblast. The allocated funds will not only support the training of 195 doctors and 67 pharmacists in various medical specialties, but also foster professional development at regional medical universities, promoting health-and-wellness and education-and-self-development within the community.
