Event: Orientation Day (2019 Edition)
Design Orientation Program Held at IIT Delhi
On the 27th of July, 2019, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi hosted an Orientation Program for Design students. The event was graced by honorable dignitaries, industry professionals, faculty members, staff, and the Chief Guest, M.K.Venu.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Jitin Chadha, the Founder Director of the institution. He shared perspectives on the design journey ahead, emphasizing that every day at the institution would be a new challenge.
Professor Usha Patel, the Dean-Academics, delivered an inspirational speech, emphasizing the importance of Design as an integral element of our existence. She highlighted that Design has the power to bring about immense change in the world. Professor Patel also elaborated on the role of educators and the responsibilities of sincere learners.
Ms. Simrat Joshi, the Head of Operations, introduced the Faculty and Staff of the institution to the new batch of students. She gave a brief overview of the year ahead and what it would entail. The students were also given a peek into the various resources available to enhance their academic experience at the institution.
Ms. Joshi later took the students through the highlights of the Course Book, ensuring they were well-prepared for their academic journey.
Ms. Anubha Kakroo, Dean - Outreach and Corporate Relations, extended a vote of thanks to all dignitaries and institution members. She thanked everyone for their presence and contribution in making the ceremony memorable.
In his speech, the Chief Guest, Mr. M.K.Venu, shared insights on how Design should be viewed as a way of life. He emphasized that technology should be used as an impetus to creating sustainable and usable design, and warned against letting creativity be diluted by technology.
Dr. Jitin Chadha, in his closing remarks, highlighted the institution's educational philosophy as one committed to grooming ethical, reflective, entrepreneurial designers, design thinkers, and problem solvers who are not just Industry-ready but Life-ready.
The event concluded with a positive and inspiring atmosphere, ready to welcome the new students to their design journey.
