New Education Minister Sven Teuber Expresses Affinity for Physical Books

Mainz, Germany - The newly appointed Education Minister Sven Teuber has displayed a fondness for traditional books, describing himself as an avid reader who prefers print over digital mediums. In an interview with the German Press Agency, the SPD politician expressed his preference for the tangible nature of books, stating, "I need the book. The book is a cultural treasure to me."

Teuber championed small publishers and their printed works, criticizing the e-book market as being overly corporate and driven by market trends. He asserted that books are more than just commodities; they are art and culture. In contrast, e-books primarily feature bestsellers, making it difficult for smaller publishers to gain traction.

Currently, Teuber is engrossed in the novel "Maniac" by Benjamin Labatut. He praised the book as "very engaging," delving into the life of Hungarian-American mathematician John von Neumann, algorithms, and the conception of atomic bombs.

Teuber's affinity for books is evident in his support for small publishers and his preference for the tactile reading experience. Despite the convenience and accessibility of e-books, he values the physical book as an enduring cultural artifact. However, further information regarding his thoughts on the future role of e-books in education was not available at the time of this report.

In line with his preference for traditional books, Education Minister Sven Teuber advocates for vocational training programs that emphasize education-and-self-development while using books as educational tools. He believes that such programs, when embedded within the community policy, can provide a well-rounded education experience that includes entertainment, as well as fostering an appreciation for the art and cultural significance of books.
