The Petroleum & Convenience Marketers of Alabama (P&CMA) and Cougar Oil have announced the recipients of the 2025 CDL scholarships, awarded in memory of Lane Frazer, a respected Selma-based trucking operator who passed away in 2024.

These scholarships, which aim to provide opportunities for stable, well-paying careers in the transportation industry, have been made possible in part by the P&CMA Educational Foundation. The foundation, established by P&CMA, is dedicated to education, community development, and advancing opportunities for the next generation of Alabama workers.

Bart Fletcher, President of P&CMA, expressed pride in partnering with Cougar Oil and Wallace State Community College to assist in providing these scholarships. Rex Jones, CEO of Cougar Oil, stated that truck driving provides a great career opportunity, offering an exciting path forward for young people in the area.

The scholarships continue to provide opportunities for aspiring truck drivers in Selma and Dallas County. Many past recipients of the scholarship have remained in Dallas County after completing their CDL training, helping to strengthen the workforce in Alabama's Blackbelt.

Cougar Oil, a family-owned fuel and petroleum distribution company based in Selma, Alabama, is committed to serving communities across the state and empowering local economic growth. P&CMA, which represents over 150 petroleum marketers and convenience store operators across Alabama, has been fueling the state's economic engine since 1949.

The partnership between Cougar Oil and P&CMA has now provided a total of fifteen scholarships to aspiring truck drivers in the region. The scholarships were recognized in a meaningful way, honoring Lane Frazer's memory. Bart Fletcher, President of P&CMA, congratulated the recipients and wished them great success in their careers.

These scholarships are just one example of P&CMA's efforts to reflect the critical role that petroleum marketers and convenience store operators play in fueling progress and opportunity. The recipients of the 2025 CDL scholarships will undoubtedly make significant contributions to the transportation industry and the state of Alabama.

The P&CMA Educational Foundation, established by P&CMA, is not only dedicated to community development but also seeks to advance opportunities in the finance sector, given its role in providing funding for the CDL scholarships.

Rex Jones, CEO of Cougar Oil, also emphasized the value of education and self-development in his statement, acknowledging that truck driving offers a promising career path for young people in the area.
