Cloudera Summit: Building Trust in GenAI with Human-Centric Data
Cloudera, a leading data management company, recently hosted a corporate lunch at the Gartner Data & Analytics Summit in June 2025. The event brought together nearly 20 corporates, all pursuing projects in Generative AI (GenAI). The summit highlighted key challenges and solutions in data management and trust.
Vinicius Cardoso, Cloudera's CTO for Australia and New Zealand, stressed the importance of two key concepts for building trust in data: 'human centric' data and 'data lineage'. He believes that understanding the journey of data and keeping it centered around human needs is crucial for reliable AI.
Keir Garrett, Cloudera's managing director for Australia and New Zealand, noted that many organizations are prioritizing data governance and compliance. He observed that attendees were focusing on using the 'right data' to ensure accurate and ethical AI implementations.
Cloudera, in collaboration with Mercy Corps, has developed an AI assistant called Methods Matcher. This tool reduces cognitive load, speeds up decision-making, and enables proactive responses. It has the potential to bring significant financial benefits to organizations, especially in crisis situations.
The summit revealed a widespread challenge in trust and implementation of GenAI. Only one attendee expressed confidence in their GenAI implementation, indicating a need for better strategies in data management and AI integration.
Cloudera's insights into hybrid data management and human-centric data highlight the path forward for organizations pursuing GenAI projects. By prioritizing data governance, understanding data lineage, and leveraging tools like Methods Matcher, corporates can build trust in their data and make better decisions. The partnership between Cloudera and Mercy Corps demonstrates the potential of AI in crisis situations, paving the way for more innovative uses of data in the future.
