China's EV Market Surges: Tesla Leads, BYD Sets Record
Last week, from September 22 to 28, saw a surge in electric vehicle (EV) insurance registrations in China. Several manufacturers reported impressive figures, with Tesla stock leading the pack.
Tesla topped the charts with 19,300 registrations, its highest in 13 weeks. This success comes after launching the six-seat Model Y L in China on August 19. Meanwhile, BYD's brand vehicles secured the highest number in the past 40 weeks with 92,400 registrations.
Nio also performed well, with a 61.92% increase to 10,800 registrations. Notably, its third-generation ES8 recorded 2,120 registrations just a week after its launch on September 20. Onvo, a sub-brand, registered 3,800 units, including 2,600 Onvo L90 and 1,200 Onvo L60. Firefly hit its highest yet with 1,800 registrations.
Xiaomi's EV registrations reached 11,000, the highest in four weeks. Leapmotor achieved a record 16,000 registrations last week.
